"Nerdy" quilting fabric.

Post by missabaldwin »

(I hope this is the right place to post this.)

I'm just about to finish my first ever quilt, a gift for my husband.

It's not perfect but I'm pretty proud.
I'm wanting to make a quilt for myself next.
I am very interested in this fabric...

but can only find it in one etsy shop. I was hoping to be able to do a little shopping around.

Does anyone have anywhere that they shop for specialty fabric like this?

(I have a feeling I will suck it up and buy it because, let's be honest, this is too cute. :pika )

That fabric is in import from overseas. I haven't seen it anywhere, and trust me I do a lot of fabric shopping. I think your only option is to buy it from etsy. What is the listing? If I can hunt down the manufacturer I should be able to find out if it is still in print or not.

Your quilt also looks really good. It is fantastic considering that is your first quilt. Your edges line up, the quilting is spot on, and you have a border! All of the things I like to see in great quilts.

Here's the listing...

At roughly $30 a yard (if my math is right) I can't help but balk a little bit. I have so little fabric buying experience that I have no idea if that's reasonable for an imported fabric. Thank you so much for your offer to help and your kind words about my quilt! I think I'm officially hooked on quilting. (As long as I can bind this one without incident. lol.)

So I looked around and I couldn't find any pokemon fabric made by manufacturers that import. It has the Nintendo licensed logo on it, so it is definitely from overseas. That is probably the only price you will find it at. And yes, it is by the half yard.

Thank you so much for your help. And now I don't need to feel bad about paying more than expected. Since, well, I have to have it. :)

You are welcome. Feel free to message me anytime on quilting stuff. Too bad you are on the opposite side of the country or I would help you with the binding.

It looks good. I actually zoomed in and looked at the detail in the stitching. If you are like me you want honesty and not people saying everything is great. ;) If that is your first binding then I am amazed. It is even, the lines are nice, and I think it looks really good.

The first time I did my binding was on some placemats. Needless to say I put it on backwards. I still laugh at that.

Thank you! I totally appreciate you zooming in and getting a good look. As a newbie the more help the better!

It really is my first ever binding. :D I found a great blog with a photo tutorial that clicked for me. And I literally check it like 16 times to make sure it was right. I'm totally one that would stitch something on backwards/upside-down.
