That's a card lcockitt sent me as part of the makeup gifts from the last swap.
I now have a bag of googly eyes, just begging to be used on every.single.thing.ever.

OH, finally got another progress shot for that baby thing for my cousin! she's going in to get more blood tests done today, the midwives think she may have pre-eclampsia, which sucks... especially since it's her birthday today, too!

Re: Things Arkani Works On - Updated 5th April!
double update!
I've finished the second page of the pattern (ignore that I split it into 5 pages to be able to *see* the symbols!)
and i'm currently wasting a pretty onto a shirt, "stitch or die" from weelittlestitches.
Going to pick up two other shirts, and larger count waste when I'm over in perth, and do the DDR band in maybe 6.5ct, and a soulpeace dragon in 11ct I think.
and thanks, lcockitt!
GOOGLE EYES ALL THE THINGS!
...18 hours later...
ok where did my brown threads get to.
*searches*

Re: Things Arkani Works On - Updated 13th April!
an update
Going to Perth tomorrow (I fly out at 6.30am!) so this may be my last post for a fortnight or so,but then, maybe you won't be able to get rid of me.
I've made some headway into the baby sampler, and have all the bits ready for my charity square, too. I bought this on a whim, and i'll be making it for the fiancee, and sending it to him while i'm away. Hot Fuzz is one of his favorite movies, so i'm hoping he'll get a kick out of it.
It is for the greater good, after all.
I also finished the shirt I was stitching onto,as well. Not sure if I really like how it turned out, but it's done now. It does ring true, in some senses, for me though - I have Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) and stitching truly helps control the urge to pull, whether I'm conscious of that urge or not. Stitching has ensured that I still have hair on my head..

Re: Things Arkani Works On - Updated 13th April!
Oh my word, another trich sufferer! *hugs* I've got it, too. That's actually why I got back into stitching so heavily a couple of years ago -- crafting gives my fingers something to do, and feeling the thread between my fingers satisfies a lot of the digital stimulation urges that can trigger a pulling episode. If I'm ever watching television, I need to make sure I've got something to do with my hands, otherwise I just start pulling. Reading is still a challenge though... can't stitch and read at the same time. We may have to exchange trich stories sometime, if you're comfortable with that. I don't know anyone else who pulls, so it would be interesting to compare our experiences with another trich-y crafter.arkani wrote: It does ring true, in some senses, for me though - I have Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) and stitching truly helps control the urge to pull, whether I'm conscious of that urge or not. Out of curiosity, when you paint the aida and you've washed and dried it, is it flexible and soft or is it stiff. Just wondering if this would work for pillows or if its too stiff.

it... kinda depends? I use more of the fabric medium than it says on the bottle (more like 1 part paint to 2-3 parts fabric medium) and that seems to keep it softer, and more flexible.. it feels a little like soft leather. less fabric medium gives it a more plasticy/stiff feel. I think if you played with it, and used a good amount of fabric medium, it might be OK for a pillow.koi1686 wrote:Out of curiosity, when you paint the aida and you've washed and dried it, is it flexible and soft or is it stiff. In updatey news - I'm just waiting for my baby cousin to come meet us! 2 weeks left until he's due, though I reckon he'll be early, judging by 1st borns in our families.
Before Backstitching After Backstitching
in random things - I had my birthday about a month ago, and had something rather cunning made just for me! So of course I got my dog to wear it and took a photo. Star... puts up with being dressed up. "The expression the model exhibits today is ' oh lordy, not this again.... *sigh*"
