I was inspired by the holiday season, so I made the following I hope to turn it into a christmas ornament but who knows. It was also my first chance to try out a new DMC floss color as I used Very Dark Plum (3886) on the nose! You could certainly get away with 916 though (Which is actually what I put in the pattern as it hasnt updated for the new colors). I'll throw the pdf up on my patterns thread for anyone interested. Stitching this also reminded me that there will be no more Futurama

Yay, Futurama!
The great thing about Futurama is it's replay value.
I've seen all the episodes so many times, but I can always watch them again!

I watched Soul Eater awhile back on netflix. As soon as I saw Excalibur I knew I had to....stitch him...
I stitched one of my favorite provisions along with a couple goofy phrases that gave me the chortles

Re: BigDaddyWiz's NVPs (Sagan Quote)
Ever since the new Cosmos show began airing on Fox Ive been thinking about doing a Carl Sagan related project. I had a small piece of black aida laying around and no desire to start a larger project so I gots to thinking and came up with this.
I also wanted to try out some threads and whatnot I never really used or was comfortable with. I did some minor embroidery with the three little planets. I used a combination of glow in the dark and DMC color variations thread on the lettering. The glow in the dark isnt as glow in the darky as my mind imagined it would be...I used silk floss on the stars. I hated the silk floss. it was almost impossible to thread into a needle and the knots kept trying to come undone. I used fabric glue to help keep them tied. I used glissen gloss and tried to randomly stitch it into the background to give it a shiny, starry look. I dont usually back stitch so I added that to the space pie (Id like to get better at backstitching for lettering purposes). All in all I am happy with the way it turned out.

That's a really cool project! Made from scratch, just like apple pie.
I really like how the planets turned out, especially the ringed one, and the Glissen Gloss comes through nicely. Superb!

Thanks! I wish I wouldve made more planets and less stars. That Silk Floss was a pain, but trying new things was really the point of the whole project.RMDC wrote:That's a really cool project!
just adding stuffs from my original introduction post that I realized I never posted in my project boards.

Re: BigDaddyWiz's NVPs (Sagan Quote)
My nephew Max is a little over 2yrs old. He was born with only one functioning kidney, an inability to drink liquids without a thickening agent, a possible speech disability and Autism. Despite his troubles he is an intelligent, happy, energetic child (makes me laugh constantly). He is already learning sign language and can use an ipad better than most adults. My sister bought a box of childrens books a while back at a yard sale which included the book "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" by Dr Seuss. This quickly became one of his favorite books (probably do to the rhyming and silly pictures). My sister adopted a quote from the book and created a facebook page so friends and family around the country could more easily check on his progress, both medically, and in various therapys. "Moving Mountains With Max" has become a rally cry for the family. Anytime Max achieves a therapy goal or we recieve positive news medically. April is National Autism Awareness Month and for it, and using my sisters motto, I created the following Cross Stitch (Didnt finish it till now)
I truely believe he will move mountains!
