That layout is awesome. I so have to use it for my 3D patterns.

Speaking of, if you ever do decide to do one, I can give you the methods for the blocks. Don't mind sharing with another awesome quilter.

Yes, definitely, I would appreciate that. Yours is the type of 3D block I want to do (not the one that looks like 4 triangles put together). It's funny, because I've googled Tetris quilts before, seen the different blocks, and for ease, did it my way. And when you said that, I did a quick google search to show you the type of block I would do if I did it again, and it was your quilt (I hope that made sense)

That does make sense. I have 2 different types of blocks, a 5 color and a 3 color. The 3 color is the easiest, but the 5 color looks cool. Let me know when you are ready to make another one and which block you want and I will type up (they are in my head) and email you how to make them.

I've noticed you're a meanderer. Practice, practice, practice. And tell everyone your designers are "abstract"

I have the meandering down. I tell everyone that the patterns are more important for me than the quilting. That doesn't work with other quilters, they know the truth. When I have time, I will make some sandwiches and practice patterns. I just don't seem to have time!

For me, I did a few quilts on my domestic machine and said this doesn't work, I'm saving up for a longarm. While doing that, I got the Flynn Frame System, which is a pipe system you roll your quilt on and it sort of acts like a longarm type thing with the domestic, moreso than pin basting. But all I could do was meander on that, so when I got my Tin Lizzie (what machine do you have?), I made myself not meander. I can use it as an accent but it's a "rule" that it can't be a full design (... don't look at the quilting on Fawful... I definitely didn't forget that rule ). Also, in anticipation of getting Lizzie, I made a bunch of baby size quilt tops to practice on when I first got her, and then donated them. Since I had trouble focusing when it was perfectly good fabric that I was practicing on and then going to, what, throw away? But donation quilt tops, that works for me Though, really, I've seen your quilts and the meandering does work for them. I think I needed more justification for the $$ I spent on Lizzie.

I don't have a long arm. I really really want one!! I know that will help my quilting, I just don't have the room right now. I have made my husband promise me that when we move in 2-4 years I will be able to have another room I can put a long arm in. So for now I meander. I have a Brother NX2000 (which is now the Laura Ashley) that I do all of my piecing and quilting on.

And yes, I just did that queen size I put on deviantart and facebook all on my little machine. I can't wait to get a long arm.

I could've sworn you had a longarm. More power to you then! It takes so much skill to do anything decent on a domestic (imho). When you move in 2-4 years, you're coming to Tucson, yes?

LOL. No, my husband really wants his 10 year old to go to the same high school he did, so we will stay in the same area. It is funny how many people assume I have a long arm because of how fast I can spit quilts out. I just have my routine down and chain as much as I can.
