UP from Crocheted Granny's WIP again

Post by Lijnloos »

Hi,
A couple months back I saw the Big Mario Racoon Blanket/Rug from EnemyAirship on Ravelry and started my own version.
After 3 months I had my UP finished and sown together:

It's about 1x1 meters big and has 208 individual granny squares.

Very nice! I'm actually working on something similar right now, so I can appreciate the amount of time that goes into one of these.. :hello:

Once you get into the swing of it, how long does each square take you to make roughly? I have a real problem with long projects, but if I wanted to do a square every now and then I think it could be something I could do. That said, I've crocheted a total of <nil> times, so would have some work to do to 'get into the swing'!!!

I love this 1up though, especially the texture of each granny square. Amazing work :)

I think, after about 10 Granny's to start, it took me about 5/6 minutes for each granny square. I used the long car rides and quiet evenings in front of the tv to crochet them.

This looks great. The squares are so neat. I wish I had the patience for a big project like this.

I'm gonna do it again... but this time with red instead of green, it's going to be the back side of this one and the total will be a cushion to sit on ;)
So I'll be needing:
78 whites
50 reds
18 beiges
62 blacks + 64 more blacks to round it and make it "deep".

So far I have:
15 red and 7 whites...

I'll be starting blacks now, so I can join the rows along the way, which makes that part far less annoying!
