I accidentally shrunk my fabric when dying it. Any advice?

Post by Lalina »

I used some Tulip brand black dye on my 28ct evenweave and now the fabric has shrunk. I kind of expected this to happen (I had the fabric soaking in hot water for about an hour) but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how I could prevent or at least minimize shrinkage in the future. I basically have 31ct evenweave now. I'm just going to use tent stitch on it rather than full crosses to save myself some effort. I'm just lucky that I have good eyes.

It will have been the drying process, not the dying, that shrunk it. You can re-stretch it slightly by re-wetting and then pulling it out and having it dry taut stretched.
