Thimbles
As totally stupid as this sounds, what finger does your thimble go on?

Re: Thimbles
Do you know if they make ones for thumbs? Or ones that get large enought to fit on thumbs?

Re: Thimbles
Yes they do but I think they are harder to find. I've only seen really big ones made out of some-what soft plastic (still hard enough to keep the head of a needle from going through)

Re: Thimbles
I always put it on my middle finger, although I know plenty of folks who use the index finger. I think it depends on what you're comfortable with.

Okay! Do you use anything to keep the needle from slipping? I have the bad habit of biting my fingers, and so if it hurts and I can't get a super good grip, I can't hold onto the needle. Do you think that something like a rubber finger would work for that?

Re: Thimbles
I don't use anything, but if it's tough to pull through I use pliers rather than hurting my hands. I think my mom taught me that.SheWhoRoars wrote:Okay! Rubber finger might work? I think you should try it and see if it works for you. And if it doesn't, try something else. There isn't a definite "do this" way as long as you're getting the stitches in where you want them.

Re: Thimbles
I actually bought a leather thimble with a metal piece on the fingerpad that might work for a thumb.

Or an ex-large metal one? http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Slip-Stop-T ... ds=thimble
