Blending Filament

Post by Mak327 »

Has anyone used it before? I have only used it once as it was part of a kit, but I was looking at the "home is where the :controller: is" pattern which I'm doing for my fiance with the xbox360 controller and was thinking about using the glow-in-the-dark-lime blending filament for the ring around the X in the controller. I have glow-in-the-dark thread as well, but with thread you are stuck with using the whiteish color of the thread whereas with the blending filament, I can combine it with a green thread so that when it isn't glowing, it still looks green like it is supposed to. At least, that is the idea behind it.

Has anyone had any experience with blending filament? Does it work like it is supposed to? I'm really excited to try it. I ordered it today (since my store only had the glow-in-the-dark-grapefruit) so when it arrives, I'll be trying it out, but I was curious if anyone else had tried it and how it worked for them!

By "blending filament" do you mean using strands from two different colors as one? Because this is a term with which I am not yet familiar.

In any case, no I haven't. I too wish the glow in the dark thread came in more colors. I've a pretty awesome idea if only I could get orange.

No. It is made by Kreinik. It is thinner than the floss and in a spool. They have it for adding shimmer or metallic or glow-in-the-dark. I used the shimmer once before for a veil for a wedding project, but I haven't tried the glow-in-the-dark yet.
