Card Saga Wars!

Post by Cerity »

In exploring the site, I've seen lots of awesome art related to the CSW project, namely ShampooTeacher's bead Megaman and most beaded sprites at A Time Well Wasted. I found the main website here, and although it's in Spanish, the card images are there!

Sadly, some are cropped off the card border, but in a framed project that might not be so noticeable. Hopefully I'll be able to find some screenshots/videos to complete the cropped sprites, but for now I've gotten to cutting out the sprites and trying my hand at KG-Chart for the first time (And posting on the forums, besides the introduction thread :D)!

Here are samples of some of my favorite ladies in the CSW card list. I know the color counts are a little outrageous, but I wasn't sure how crazy I should go combining the shades. This was mainly an exercise in attempting a pattern-making, getting feedback on how to improve, and maybe some suggestions on other sprites people may want.

Love it! Keep 'em postin =) Might help to put the picture as a photobucket image or something like that so you can do 5 pattern attachments?

Thank you! Yes, that is a great idea! I edited the first post and here's the second:

This is my first serious attempt at color reduction below, 23 to 17 DMC. I've got the materials to make it and will soon make WIP posts when I decide what I want to do with it. (I also lightened her face, the original Harle had white paint)

You may want to let the person(s) who run the site know that you're ripping their images for patterns. Normally they're okay, but if you're taking a large amount of images they may get upset. Better to be on the safe side with it, don't you think? I've just noticed in the past that some people have gotten burned by different people and I would hate for that to happen again. Other then that the sprite patterns look great! What color reducer did you use? I know Gimp works wonders for me. I managed to take your Aeris pattern and get it down 10 colors.

I'm fairly sure that AbyssWolf makes the sprites for those cards - a few people here have used some of his sprites before. He probably already knows that people use em but maybe it's best to ask anyways :)

Love the Ivy one, it's going on my to-do list with Eileen and Pyramid Head (and everything else lol) ^^

P.S. Cerity I love your forum avatar - I don't see Teiris often enough these days :P

Thanks for the warning! I saw a number of people doing similar things elsewhere, and I probably let myself go a little overboard ^.^; I'll pick out my favorites for now and maybe add the others later depending on what he says.

As for color reducing, I was doing it by hand in the KG-Chart program, lumping like-ones together into the more popular of the like-colors. I suppose using GIMP might have been a good idea too XD.

Dragon Force is one of my all-time favorite games, and I love Teiris! I'm glad that others recognize her.
