March Bonus Challenge! T-Shirt Merch Design

Post by johloh »

well, we need a t-shirt. people have been clamoring for a sprite stitch shirt to buy and I think its about time we put one out there.

I think three weeks should be enough time to design one, so we'll leave this open for the rest of the month of march, entries need to be in by midnight pst on march 31st!

a couple rules and limitations...
1. can be any color tshirt, though white is the cheapest on most sites.
2. must include "sprite stitch" somewhere in the design.
3. cannot include ripped sprites of obvious characters from video games
  • a. ie you can't just throw a sprite of mega man, mario, zelda, etc... (tshirt printing sites will block it)
    b. you could probably get away with including a heart from zelda, or a mushroom from mario, etc
    c. original artwork is probably ok, even if it is a copyrighted character.
4. we'll vote, and we'll likely choose the same winner, but the final decision is still reserved by the sprite stitch staff.
5. We can have multiple winners and multiple shirts if we have a couple of great submissions and do not want to have to choose.

ooh, this is so exciting! :yahoo:
Does the design need to be a specific size, file type, resolution, etc?

I havent made an official decision on the site yet...so I cant give you an exact. but I would recommend...

-large file types. we can make it smaller, but bigger can be difficult.
-dont compress. IE avoid jpegs...sticking with PNG is usually the best since I believe it is not compressed.

Just to get them out of the way, here's ones using just the logo.
Standard colours of white, grey, black, blue and red should all work fine.
(Had to make the t-shirts slightly bigger to fit the logos on properly.)

Thought I would add that I would pay extra for a non-white shirt. Women's "under garments" always show through them.

Im with you Kuja.Girl. not only do womens "under garments" as you very tactfully call them - show through but I have two small children and white just isn't a sensible choice :nod :nod
cant wait to see how this turns out - and really great that you're doing this - will we be seeing more sprite stitch merchandise on the horizon??

I third this! Plus, a darker color would be more... slimming.
I have a snazzy design in the works!

I would also like to request a "womens" sizing too please. I am pretty small so I have problems with Men's tshirts. Even a small makes me look like I am swimming in it. If these are done before April, I would definitely pick one up to wear to my next convention (Pittsburgh Comic Con).

While I'm not that bothered about womens sizing, due to me having large bits here and here that only really fit into men's t shirts, I totally see the need to have them, for the slender ladies among us! :)
I also agree with the dark colour idea. Don't want the world seeing my under garments! :D
