My only gaming history has been a PC for the last few years, so I've never played any of the Zeldas or Final Fantasies, but the sprites look cool and I'm sure someone can tell me if I put two together that really clash

I think the theme should be Kirby! <insert Kirby smiley here>

And the pattern should be Kirby about to nom the sprite stitch symbol!

No matter what the theme is I think that someone should pattern the game font so people can stitch their names on their work if they'd like.

You know, an interesting pattern could be something like 5 or 6 different well-known characters with a central theme (villains, heroes, same game, same species, whatever) all done in a sampler/mash-up style as one project. Could be done up like the charity quilt squares (each one the same dimensions) and stitched around the outside like a border, maybe, with the person's forum name or nick name or something in the middle or Sprite Stitch or something. Could even do this where you find 12 characters and stitch one a month into a whatever the theme is style sampler.

I really like the idea of having a pattern but taking out the thread colors so that everyone had a slightly unique creation. Also, for more variety, what if there were 2-3 preset patterns to choose from for the stitch-a-long, and you could choose the one you liked best or do all 3 if you had time? Lots of people were suggesting dragons, Zelda, and dinosaurs, so there could be a pattern for each of those and then each person could decide what they would rather do!

I've been in groups that did something like this and its always a good one. I remember this one time we were making blankets and this one lady brought in purple threads to do her embroidery with instead of the blue/pink the rest of us were using and it was so very different! It was fascinating to see the difference that simple colour choice can have on a design.

I quite like the idea of a semi-blank design. Almost like a colouring-in book! :D

...OMG.

Now I am imagining a Zelda-themed colouring-in book but in stitches. XD

I second this idea - it would give people options.

or - you could give the outline of a pattern and then people could fill it in with whatever colors that they wanted to?
