Re: Monkey Island Ghost Pirate Ship
Thank you Pyper !
Below are the colors I'll use (I changed 3 colors ; I replaced 939 (dark marine blue) with 3371 (dark brown) ; 740 (orange) with 741 (lighter orange), and 946 (another orange) with 740 (which seems a bit lighter and flashy)). I also put the pattern (if anyone wants to stitch it too, please feel welcome !!!)
I can't wait to receive my stuff to get started !!!

Re: Monkey Island Ghost Pirate Ship
omg what an awesome way to compare colors. I never thought of that.
Also, this is going to look great when stitched. The contrast between the colors is very nice.
Please keep this updated!

I use the awesome idea and work of FunkyMonkey : http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5873
That's genius ! Because sometimes colors on KG chart preview (or any other software ?) are not satisfactory compared to real DMC colors...
Be sure I'll keep this post updated !!! Thank you so much ! I feel so motivated...
I ordered all what I need !

Yeah, I'm definitely using that method of color comparison from now on - you came up with a smart way to do it.
Looking forward to the updates!

That looks awesome! Can't wait to see it! I would totally be stitching it on black though. Ugh! I always take the easy route!

I'm not sure it would be easier to make it on black aida... I don't have very good eyes (I'm myopic), and I'm afraid that I would have a hard time with black cloth at night and in winter light... ??Yurtle wrote:That looks awesome! Can't wait to see it! Love the colors in this! I am looking forward to seeing your progress.
I think so, Brain, but can the gummi worms really live in peace with the marshmallow chicks?
I think so, Brain, but if they called them "sad meals" nobody would buy them.

If you stitch on black fabric, make sure you have a light colored object in front of you. I've been working on a piece on black aida, and it's a pain - unless I have my white table in front of me. Then, no matter what light I am in, as long as it's decent, I can see the holes. If that helps at all.

Thank you Merrywether !!!
It helps, indeed ! Thanks M4pl3g1rl... In fact I think I'll keep the idea of testing black aida later, and with a smaller project... in case of it's too difficult for me !m4pl3g1rl wrote:If you stitch on black fabric, make sure you have a light colored object in front of you. Re: WIP - Monkey Island Ghost Pirate Ship [UPDATE : 09/09/2012]
Well, I haven't received my threads yet ; but I couldn't wait to get started, so I use the only color I had : black.
Start : 5th September 2012.
Week 01 : 7,5 hours.
Total : 7,5 hours (2,5 %).
I've spent 7,5 hours for these (almost 0,43 BMH work rate)
I'd like to stitch two 50x50 pixels squares (red lines on the cloth) per month (almost 32 hours), but no stress, I'll see if I keep this rythm. If so, this project would keep my hands busy for 9 months But I don't think I'll stitch it without a few breaks...
