I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out. I loooove the bright colors against the black, it's going to look awesome.

Re: WIP - Monkey Island Ghost Pirate Ship [05/01/2013 - 5,4%

Post by La Ptite Bete »

I've finally received my threads and started again my ghost pirate ship ! :yahoo:
Here is the first 50 x 50 square done (5,4 % ; almost 16 hours of stitching, maybe more).

I'm not sure about the reds, they are not as contrasting as on the pattern
As you can't see, there are two different reds on the "red area" below :

What do you think ?...
I won't go very fast with this one, since I start my Child Play's square soon :hello:

I love the colour scheme, although you're right that they don't seem to contrast as much but appear to be a bit darker. Personally, I think, it fits the mood of the piece quite well. Can't wait to see the purple ship parts coming :D

Wow! You r very detailed in your stitch-planning (building the grid, stitching off the border). This may be a skill i should try! Complements on your organization! :good:

Well... I'm really disappointed and demotivated (do you say that in english ?) by this project. Three shades of red look too similar. There aren't many colors, only 24 ; so if we can't distinguish one color from another, that really sucks. That's too many hours of work for nothing.
So... I'd like to start another great Monkey Island project. I've made a pattern for a long time, but this one counts 81 colors ; that's an investment. If I buy these 81 threads, I'll have to stitch this project till the end this time. That's why I hesitated. Now I really want to start it... but before I order, I want to check every REAL color... so I ordered a DMC Stranded Cotton Shade Card. It's expensive, but it will avoid me to do the same mistake again. Now I'll be able to check every pattern I made with KG Chart, with real thread colors... that's worth it.

Here is the pattern I'd like to stitch...

It's from the excellent game Monkey Island 2 : LeChuck's Revenge (with original graphics, not the moot special edition)

What do you think about it... ? Promising or doomed to failure ?

Oh well, i like the corner, buy yeah, the red part is looking rly weird.
With how many colors did U make the pattern? Maybe it works out if U add a few colors

And tbh i prefer the first image, the original. The color contrast os amazing (oh the irony)

Love the ideia of buying a shade card. Wonder if i can find one in my country :)

KG Chart suggested 24 colors... Problem is, it turns out quite nice on the screen ; but not in real. As you can see (as I should have seen !!) on my previous pic with my "ring of threads"... 498 and 815 are quite the same color. With my DMC shade card, I'll be able to see what colors I could have added, or used instead... but for the moment, I give up this one. Tant pis. I want a project full of colors !
The DMC card is quite expensive, but I think it can be very usefull...
What do you think about my 2nd pattern (the "excuse me" one) ? I love the colors. KG-Chart suggests 81 colors this time !
