Johto-Kanto Map

Post by faroresdragn »

Forums arent as active as they used to be, but wanted to use this to post the progress I make on my first big stitching project.

What Im making is the in game maps of Johto and Kanto from Pokemon Gold that I spliced together in to one big map.

Meant to start some big projects for a while now, and finally got some materials to get me started for Christmas.

This map is gonna be pretty big (304x128 stitch-wise) so its gonna take some time lol, but I did get a decent chunk done over the weekend:

I also attached the KG file if anyone is interested.

This is another project I always wanted to do before I got burned out on Pokemon lol. But I'm excited to watch it come together, so please keep posting your progress - even if the forums are a bit quiet, I'm here every day :D

think ive been making pretty good progress on this. I decided i was really not happy with the grey color KG had given me for the path, so before i got any further i pulled out those like 1000 stitches i had done and replaced them with white which looks so much better. I did finish the black border which lets me really know how much work I have to do on this haha:

since then i did alot more work on the routes, and filling in that western sea. *almost* filled it out before i ran out of that strand.

Took a little break to work on another short project but im back to working on this one.

Wanted to ask a question im a little concerned about.

So up to this point for green i had been using a thread that had come on a spool marked 702 in a big starter kit type deal i had gotten for christmas. I had finally run out of that and started using the 702 thread i bought from hobby lobby.

as you can see there is a slight difference. the storebought thread looks kind of dingy. its just a bit lighter than the other, which looks alot brighter and I like alot more.

my issue is I have no idea what color that green on top actually is, since i bought the same 702 and its a different color, and i cant just buy the same kit again for one stein of thread.

Should i just continue with this 702 i have? will it make the rest of my project look bad or will i really not notice? is there a way to determine what color that other green thread is?
