Bubble Bobble Sampler (complete, pattern on page 2)
I wanted to give working on a frame/stand (borrowed from my mom) a try to see if I'd prefer it to hoops. I also wanted a bit of a break from my Epic Mario Through the Ages and Bubble Bobble just doesn't get quite as much love as Mario, Zelda, FF, etc.
Stitched on Charles Craft Gold Reserve Black Aida ct 14 (15x18") because this seems to be the only size/brand black aida anywhere sells without special ordering and, with a 60% coupon at Jo-ann, it was only $2.
This is about 25% done. Should be around 10-10.5k stitches 12x15" (14 count) and 12 colors when finished.
Here's the tentative (because I'm horribly indecisive and my OCD gets in the way ) design. I couldn't pick my favorites and wound up squeezing in a lot of sprites. LOL. I still may add something to the bottom corners, but haven't been able to choose what... did I mention I'm indecisive? : Maybe I should have picked something smaller for my first pattern design. sprite source: Bub & Bob - Black Squirrel; everything else- Jermungandr
Black added to sprites where I thought it should be since it doesn't look right left unstitched (the first sprite and last bubble don't have any black yet and they just don't look done to me) and I'm not stitching an extra 25k black.

Re: Bubble Bobble Sampler [WIP]
Looking great! I agree about the black fabric; I was astounded how much it cost for me to order 18ct black aida. You would think it would be more common!

Progress Update: 50% Completed
Green is DMC 906, can't seem to get light/white balance right.
Finished the final boss (well, except for most of the black) Green is DMC 906, can't seem to get light/white balance right.

Oh this is really cute! I admit I've only played it once so I don't know much about it but I've always thought the characters are really cute.

Re: Bubble Bobble Sampler [WIP]
Soooo, I just learned my cloth wasn't colorfast. Silly me, expecting a big brand like Charles Craft not to bleed. What was supposed to be a 10 minute soak to remove the marks from my stand clamp and rinse the dust off (haven't been covering my work ), turned into a 3+ day soak after I discovered the water was that grayish purple I associate with bleeding black fabric. I just wanted to be sure the threads didn't pick up the dye. Everything looks ok, but I guess we''ll see when I stitch the last of it.
What I learned this week: Prewash/soak my dark colored fabrics, or at least wait til the whole project is done so I don't have to worry that the thread colors won't match up. Anyways, here's an update. I planned to finish by the end of the year, hopefully, I'll stay on track, but I did start another project (or two) while it was soaking and drying.
75% Complete
