Home is Where the Controller Is

Postby domesticscientist on Mon Sep 08, 2008 5:56 am

Here's my latest cross stitch:

Image

I chose the 360 controller just because it's my favorite console. I think next time I"m going to move the controller down and add the cord, making it go all the way around the piece as a border. I made some other variations though if anyone wants to use them in different ways.

XBOX 360 Logo with Spere: http://www.studiosixguns.com/reneewhite/xbox360pattern.gif (My apologies for not having a color chart for that one. I closed everything without saving the color data and there is no way in hell I'm doing that thing again!!!)

Classic Nintendo Logo: http://www.studiosixguns.com/reneewhite/nintendopattern.gif

NES Controller: http://www.studiosixguns.com/reneewhite/NESControllerPattern.gif

You may notice a lack of any PS3 representation. This could be for a couple of reasons:

1.) I didn't think it was out yet, since NO ONE has one.

2.) I didn't want a firmware update to brick the cross stitch.

3.) I couldn't afford to even cross stitch the damn thing.

Happy Stitching!

 But what, no PS2 either? :)

I really like this stitch. I like your idea of adding the cord and making a border for the piece, but then again the controllers are wireless these days.

yeah, I dig this... :good:

I'd go NES over x box but thats personal...controller border would be sweet...I think itd look cool if it was a little wavy as it went around instead of a perfect rectangle border, atleast rounded corners...

I think I'd go SNES myself, and do the cord as a border...you could then have the cord wind around, become the border, then when it gets all the way around have it have the end as well, maybe another rounded corner back into the piece so the end is as noticeable as the controller itself.

But if you do all that you are adding three times the work to the piece.

Overall, great job, and although I would do SNES I think the 360 controller looks pretty sweet too.

I would do the NES controller too, though if there was an SNES pattern that would probably replace it :p I've already downloaded the patterns in hopes of doing this soon :D

I did one of your patterns.
But since I have a NES here at my house, I used the NES ontroller pattern instead of the XBOX 360 one like you did.
So here it is.

Sorry if the picture doesn't look to great, I'm no good at taking pictures.

Is there a color chart for the home is. I guess Really it is just is there one for the controller in general? I'll keep looking around. I can't seem to think of the colors for the controller at the moment though.

Well, you could use any color that works. Maybe tailor it to the particular controller.

But if I had to guess I'd say it's in the DMC 640s. Like 646, 647, or 648. At least in the NES one.

And yes, that's the entire reason I replied: to show off my mad color recognizing skills.

(It only works for the grays...)

Awesome! Really like it, and the cord idea is super cute. I may have to steal that idea..haha.

Also, thanks for linking the patterns!
