Blackwork project!

Post by funkymonkey »

Ever since I learned about blackwork, I've been intrigued, overwhelmed, and constantly reminded of the fill style palettes from old drawing software.

I have finally found the perfect image for my blackwork project, an old MacPaint screen shot!

I probably won't have a lot of free time anymore now that school has started... but this one will definitely be sitting impatiently in my brain. I'll post WIP's when I start on it :)

I agree. Blackwork's really nice and quite fun to do, and I like the subject matter you've chosen - should be good!

Yay! I love blackwork.

And I love that blackwork doesn't have to be in black. Do you have plans for color? Or are you going with just black?

I've thought about it, but for this one I'm going to go with all black to keep it authentic with the original Mac. I am so excited to get started on this one.. i've sketched out a few ideas but i have to finish the neverending backstitching on my Summer Music kit first >_<

Ok, the time is near! It took 8-10 hours, but I finally finished the pattern for this. Normal people probably don't draw out full patterns for blackwork, but since it's my first one, and I needed to turn a pixel image into lines, I decided it would be worth the effort. I plan to start it when I finish my charity quilt square, which should be in the next couple of days!
