Morninnnnn all!
So, I'm thinking about entering a summer fayre with a cross stitch. I don't want to be all traditional
And go for a sampler..I want a games themed one.
I reckon it needs to be really recognizable as the judges as usually 'older generations' but I'm totally stuck on ideas....
Any one got a good idea for a pattern/sprite? I reckon size wise largish to make it stand out and need to be full of colours!
Any help/ideas would be ace!

I'm not sure what you are looking for - do you want a "traditional" sampler that uses video game sprites instead of houses/birds/etc? If so, I agree that would be pretty cool.
This Etsy seller has some good ones.
And please post an actual size, not "largeish" (it's really not that helpful).

Re: Prize Stitchings!!
I like the idea of a mix between a game sampler and a traditional sampler.
I was half asleep when I wrote the orginal post this morning. I'm thinking A3 paper size (double A4) a pattern that uses bright colours and characters that anyone would recognise. So like Mario, Donkey Kong etc
I was just wondering if anyone had submitted anything to a competition and had good results!

Re: Prize Stitchings!!
no problem, I was drinking my coffee as I read it :)
I'm in the US and we don't use A3-A4 paper sizes... so quick maths time!
A3 = 420 x 297 mm = 6.5 x 11.7 in (that's actually not that big so I'm glad I asked!)
I have never entered a competition so I can't give any feedback on that front, but I think that it's a great idea and should be well received.
There are a few Nintendo sampler patterns on the web:
on the forums! viewtopic.php?f=7&t=208
This one was featured on the blog: http://www.mercury-girl.net/etc/crafty/
If you want to commission a pattern from people on the board we'll need some help...
- Number of colors
- Which games (the name of the games, not just "mario")
- A photo a "traditional" sampler you want to emulate (there are a ton of different kinds and layouts)

I was just browsing thru the forums and saw your post. That's my shop! Thanks for the compliment!
I think so, Brain, but can the gummi worms really live in peace with the marshmallow chicks?
I think so, Brain, but if they called them "sad meals" nobody would buy them.
