Hello Everybody,
I am new to this site, and I wanted to show some of the wooden pixelated sprites I've been doing for the past 2 years.
Basically I buy wooden cubes, each 5/8ths of a inch square. Then I pain them, and glue then into the different sprite characters.

Those look really cool.

If I get ambitious one day I might have to try this out, but what do you do with them once you are done and how big do they generally turn out to be?

They are actually quite big, Green dragon for instance is 3 feet by 3.5 feet. So he's like 9 feet square.
Right now they hand on the wall in my game room.

Thanks, one thing the pics don't show is how big they are.
They are very large, and I'm running out of room in my house.

Wow

that is a lot bigger than the cross stitch I am used to haha! Well that has got to be one cool game room. They would probably make a cool table or something too.... just an idea

Whoah, the pictures almost look like the sprites have been Photoshopped into them - your work looks nothing short of fantastic.
Just curious, have you ever made any smaller sprites (as in, simply of lower-resolution/smaller characters, or using smaller blocks), or only ones at this scale?

The smallest character I ever made was link from Zelda 1 for the NES, he is only 3 colors, and less than 200 blocks. I have never tried using smaller blocks, every character I do uses 5/8th's of an inch.
But yeah, they do look fake, but I assure you they are very real. Look at the large image of the green dragon, you can zoom in and see it block by block.
And thanks for the compliment. Can't wait to upload my Super Mario RPG characters.

My husband is huge into woodworking, and he was very impressed. He even said the sprites that were on the deck looked like they were just against a game screen. So well done!

Those are very cool! I especially like the way you set up the Mog & Chocobo in the snow; it looks like they jumped out of the game and started walking around your backyard.
