Mario paintings

So I made 16 - 4" canvases, and each one is getting a Mario item or character. They are going to be hung in a grid on the wall. I'm painting them with oils (a new experience for me). which is proving to be time consuming waiting for each layer to dry but i enjoy that I can "erase" with the turpentine. I finished several, and am near finished on a few more so I thought I'd post my progress. (sorry for the blurry pics, a cell phone camera is all I have.)
Blooper - I'm really happy with the shading on his head
Pipe
Mushrooms - the poison one needs a face on the skull still

Now I also need some feedback here, I was going to do Mario's background in white and Bowser's in black, but I don't think that will work out super well anymore, any suggestions?
Mario
Bowser
Toad

Very good!
The coin - I think it just needs a bit of shading to give it the look of a coin.

You might also want to give it an edge to make it a little more 3D.
All in all, very cool!

I love these, especially the mushrooms and the Yoshi eggs - I really enjoy the interpretive flair.

They look great!
I used to love painting with oils, haven't done so in ages. Maybe I should crack them out again.
