Fairy in a bottle. What is it?

A friend of mine found these little fairy in a bottle charms. It is the Zelda fairies suspended in small, corked bottles. The substance in which the fairy is held in is unknown to me, and I can't find any info on it. It looks like hair gel to me. My closest guess is maybe gel wax for candles? I want to make one for her before she moves away, so if anyone can enlighten me as to what the liquid stuff is, I would greatly appreciate it! (Ill post a picture when I get home if needed. Doing this from my phone at work). :D

I'm not sure on the specific project you are talking about...but, you could definitely use the gel wax for gel candles. that is probably how I would do it.

a clear resin could work too if you were trying to make it a little more solid. the downside to the gel is the fairy could possibly slowly migrate downwards, especially if the gel got softer on a hot day or was left in a window or something.

That's similar to the one my friend found. Looks like the exact same liquid as the other. I never thought about resin. Ill keep that in mind!

I shrank down a papercraft Windwaker fairy and hung it from thread in an empty bottle of 1800 tequila. So I had paper on the brain when reading this, and the thought of suspending papercraft in liquid...! I nearly had a heart attack. :P

Resin would be better... but it's more expensive.
You could make a mold of the bottle which would be likely be easier than trying to pour it into a tiny bottle.

I actually picked up some gel wax last night at hobby lobby :D I'm not ready to fork out the cash for resin just yet, so ill have to try that another time. Gonna try the gel wax out tomorrow since its my off day.

if it helps, i've recently discovered 2-part epoxy which works as a extra strong super-glue which reminds me of clear resin when it is dried; although it could actually be mix-yourself resin... :nod
