A noob's try at a Yoshi Blanket

Post by isaypwnsj00 »

i decided to crochet a yoshi blanket for my boyfriend. he loves yoshi very much!
this is greatly inspired by Ellentje's very own yoshi blanket: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2473&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... =20#p21161

she also gave me pointers on how to complete mine! thanks so much!
these are just some progress pictures. i started making it on Oct 2, 2011.

i actually filled in that block missing from the picture right above, i just haven't had a chance to take a picture of it yet.
this is yoshi from super mario world. i used the blue yoshi because it is my boyfriend's favorite one. the blue yoshi from super mario world gains wings during the game (each yoshi has a different color, likewise gaining a different power).

i don't have much crochet experience. i did learn to crochet about 7 years ago, but i didn't continuously crochet throughout those years. i just picked it up again now!

please stay tuned, i will be posting more pictures this following week. hope you guys enjoy~

thanks all for the wonderful feedback! i really appreciate the great comments =D feel free to correct me on anything. ( i am a noob after all )

i was wondering, how do i make crochet squares more... "square"? mine were kind of round-ish. the way i made them was just doing rows and turning them whenever i started a new one.

fortunately they look square when i attach them to the blanket!

I'm not super great at crocheting, but I will offer my limited knowledge ^_^;;

I had the same problem, and for me it ended up being that my tension was too tight. Once I figured that out my squares were more square ...

But... then I started getting tight on the ends of my rows and loose in the middles lol, also causing funny things with the shape of my squares.

Now I just know to keep an eye on it ^_~

**Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to add, the blanket is awesome so far! Very nice looking, and that color blue is to die for =D
