Thought I would try my hand at some 8 bit art, acrylic on canvas, each are 16x20" an actual scene from Super Mario World on the SNES, they will be my boyfriends birthday gift at the end of the month :)
my first time ever painting on canvas, absolutely loved it! My apologies for the picture, not sure how to shrink it down

Those look great! Do you hand draw the characters on there?

As far as resizing your pics go: I usually go into microsoft paint, select the entire picture, go to image, resize/skew, and then bring down both percentages until its the size I want it to be. Then you can re save it as a JPEG file

Thanks! I'll know for next time :)
And yep, I drew them on with a quilting ruler, each pixel is a quarter inch, any smaller and I would have lost my mind lol

Very neat lines! How big of a canvas did you use?

How long did it take you to paint that? My fiance and I made some painting last weekend and it took us 10 hours... I kept thinking there must be a better way or something. Did you freehand or use a grid for the pixels?

The canvas was 16x20" each, it took me about a week for each one, since I had to do it while he was at work and on days that I had off, probably worked out to be about 10 hours worth of work in the two of them combined, as for the pixels, I used a clear quilting ruler that has quarter inch markings and just drew each pixel a quarter inch, took about an hour to draw each of them on. They do take a while to do, even though it looks like there isn't much to them. Thanks for all the kind words :) I've got three more on the go for myself of Mario in the raccoon suit flying in the sky, in the frog suit under water, and in the tanooki suit standing on the ground, then a duck hunt one for a friend, I love doing them! :mush
