This is my first post on this site, actually first ever on any forum. I got inspired by this site, and I used the Smash Bros cross stitch pattern and created a crochet blanket.

Wow

that is awesome.. It's huge!
Did you do it all in one piece? Because I don't seem to see individual squares.
Great job

Whoa! That is one fantastic blanket!
It's all done in single crochet? o.o I'm curious how long it took you as well! Regardless, though, that is a smashing (hoho) sweet project to start the site off with!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. The blanket was done in single crochet, and it is one large piece. I considered doing individual squares, but I liked the idea of one whole piece. Even though it is much harder. I made this as a christmas present for my brother. I started about 2 months before christmas and finished christmas morning at about 5. I worked on it almost everyday, sometimes I got lazy, for about 2 hours per day except the last day where I worked on it for about 7 hours.

May I ask what the back looks like? Something like this looks fun to do, but I can't remember if crocheting in one big piece makes a decent back-side or not. And what did you do about all the colors? (Sorry about all the questions, I get curious

)

When I first started the blanket I took the time to weave in all the ends from all the different colors. The effect on the back was pretty much a mirror image, but that just became too time consuming. I thought I would weave all the ends in when I finished, but that didn't happen because it would have taken way too long. So I ended up getting a large piece of fabric and sewing it to the back.

The color transitions are just so perfect! Did you use tunisian crochet?

but just out of curiosity how much would you charge if I asked you to do one that was red with a bit mario head on it?
