Frog from Chrono Trigger blanket ♥

Post by Pixel Stitches »

Hello!

This is my first attempt at crochet, and it's going to take me a while, but I thought I would start posting my WIP for my Frog from Chrono Trigger blanket. Here's a quick pic:

Image

I need to make 290 squares, and I have about 30ish made atm. I layed them out in this pic so you can see sort of what it will look like when it's sewn together.

He will turn out about 7 ft tall! Next time I will take a pic with some size refrence so ou can see, because this thing is huge! :pac

That's gonna look awesome when done! :O

Can I just ask, what crochet stitches do you use to make the squares? I'm just starting out in crochet and I'm hoping to work up to making a quilt myself - I can do doubles and trebles, things like that but have yet to master the granny square!

Looking forward to seeing more of Teh Frog :P

See, I'm even newer to this than you lol. I can't do any of that yet, or at least haven't tried.

This was done with just a single crochet stitch back and forth. I chained 12, and keep single stitching until the square's about 3 inches square. I wanted to do it this way so that it will turn out without any "holes" if that makes sense :blinky

I never thought of just using singles but you're right, it would give the no holes look. I might try that out myself (when I get around to it!) :D

I think the finished project is going to be absolutely amazing! Chrono Trigger is my absolute favorite game :D

How are you planning to attach the squares together?

Thanks guys! I plan on crocheting a lot today, so hopefully I'll get at least 15 more done :D

As for joining the squares together, there are a few different methods that I've seen. Here's a link to a You Tube video that shows a very basic method:

And here's a link to a website that describes another process:

I haven't sewn any of them together yet (I'm going to wait until I have all the squares made), but it looks like a simple enough process :nod
