Christmas is approaching and all the preparations for a real nice holiday season has started. This year the gingerbread house got a gaming theme

It took quite some time for me and my fiancée to finish it, partly due to that our 10 month old son was not as excited as we were and though it was more fun to play around trying to eat the pieces

But we finally did finish it.
There were quite a number of pieces

Almost finished

And finally it is in its place.

Unfortunately we had to put the stairs quite tight to the castle and the flagpole dot not fit in at all due to lack of space. However we are satisfied with the result even though we have a number of improvements for next year

Very nice! It's been forever since I made a gingerbread house, so I may have to try this next year. Awesome idea!

This is a very cool idea. I haven't made a gingerbread house since I was a kid, and those were the usual boring ones. Great work!

That's a very cool gingerbread house! Congratulations on getting it done with a baby! =) My son will be 6 months old on Christmas, and he barely lets me cook a 20 minute dinner!

That is absolutely fantastic!
Do you have a recipe you can share for the gingerbread, please? Good gingerbread recipes are always welcome, haha.

Of course you can have the recipe. Note that the units are metric for those of you that might usually use something else
200 g Butter
1.5 dl syrup
3 dl sugar
1.5 dl cream
15 ml cinnamon
15 ml ginger
15 ml baking soda
8 ml grinded clove
12 dl flour
Melt the butter and add the sugar and syrup while you are stirring.
Add the cream and spices
Mix the baking soda with a small part of the flour and add it to the rest.
Add as much of the flour as you think is necessary. We used about 10 dl first and added some more when we rolled out the dough.
Let the dough rest at least over the night. You may store it in your fridge for 10 days.
Bake it in the middle of the oven for about 5 min at 200°C

Yup. I assumed your fiance was she, but I know I should never assume! I will send you a message when I figure out what day I will put it up.
