Kirby Quilt WIP

I have never made a quilt before but I am not a stranger to sewing and thought I would give it a try. There was some cuddly polyester chenille fabric on sale the other day so I ended up buying a heck of a lot of fabric for a Kirby quilt. One of the ladies at the store told me to not cut my squares any smaller than 5in. I should have trusted my first instincts and made smaller squares anyway @_@ the fabric would have been fine. I don't have enough floor space to work on a 2m x 2m blanket
.
Anyway, I've come too far to not finish this project. I just need to accept the fact that I am going to have a large blanket on my hands. Here is a picture of my messy workspace with a number of quilt pieces lying around: I am beginning to realize that sewing a basic sprite-based quilt is much much faster than crocheting an afgan but double the price to make (well... it is kind of my fault that I'm using chenille but it's so so soft. How could I resist?)
