After seeing caslzelda's crocheted companion cube blanket, I just had to have one of my own! I have been working on it since September 9th, and I've done at least 10 squares every day. I have 205 more to do. I should be done this month. Then I get to finish off each square and stitch it all together, which could take a while... :banghead:

This is what each square looks like. I am using a stitch I found online called linked treble crochet. I wanted to use less yarn than single crochet, but I still wanted the squares to look tightly woven. Linked treble was a perfect find!

I wish I had the guts to tackle a blanket project like this, but it just looks so daunting, so for now I'll be living vicariously through you! That linked treble crochet stitch looks good though, I'll have to look for it! Good luck!

Those squares look great, very neat! And the linked treble crochet looks lovely, I can't wait to see how it looks when it's all put together!

I've planned to do the companion cube blanket in 3 months but then the store didn't have the yarn and I had to wait. Since it was a birthday gift for my boyfriend, I was forced to do it in 1,5 months. At the beginning i took 15 minutes for square and at the end 3 to 4 minutes, somedays I did at least 30 granny squares. 625 granny squares and since then I never done a granny square again

Yours squares are looking great, can't wait to see it finished.

Keep strong, stay focused :P

Thank you Ally, lcockitt, and Caslzelda!
Caslzelda, I was very impressed with your speed on your blanket! Definitely not an easy task to go so quickly.
I have been working on this, and I would have been finished by now, but due to some personal things going on in life, I have slowed down considerably. I am finished with 3 of the 5 colors, though, and I have 77 more squares to stitch. Then I have to do the finishing.
Hopefully I'll be able to update with all of the squares finished soon!

Impressive! Did you manage to make any progress on this? I'd love to see the result, I'm guessing it will look amazing :D

Not very much, sadly. Real life sometimes... :banghead: I have 64 squares left to do, then all of the finishing. I am hoping to be able to finish it at some point in the near future, though, since I've been super excited about this blanket since before even starting it! Hopefully I'll have an update soon!

I know the feeling. I made a crochet blanket like this once (Yoshi!) and it is a LOT of work. Life can easily get in the way. For me it helped to start putting it together already, even though I didn't finish all the squares yet. It started to look so good that I got super motivated :P

All that's left on this is stitching all of the squares together. Also, I finally feel in the clear enough to explain the delay. :D Firstly, my husband had some pains that doctors couldn't figure out the cause of for a while early on, which caused me to work on this less. That took about a month in which he was home and I was only stitching a few squares a day. He got better, but right as he did, the baby we were trying for happened! :yahoo: (Due in July!) It was a very exciting thing, but nausea in the first trimester had me down so hard that I didn't even want to work on the squares. Now that I'm into the second, though, I feel a lot better and have gotten more done. Like I said, it just needs to be assembled now. :nod Hopefully I'll zip through that and have pictures up soon!
