For the black panel and buttons I used fleece. Not sure what the beige fabric would otherwise be known as, it was originally a blanket and it's really really soft but frustrating to work with.Re: NES Controller Cushion

It looks so squishable. I could definitelt see snuggling up with that to stitch!
