FreenatureArts, If you do granny's you get the same idea, but less "filled"... I used it to make an 1-UP. (*viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2461*)
Ellentje, you have an update for us, or were you to busy with the swap to get any crocheting done?

Thanks for the nice comments FreeNatureArts. I got the idea from Bamiyan, who makes rugs like this. She actually did a chocobo for the March craft swap, you can see it here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1734&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=180.

Thanks for the tip about the fleece. I'm using a basic double crochet here, but with a no.7 hook which makes it go faster. Up to know I've used about 6 100 grams skeins of acrylic wool.
Granny squares will look great, just like Lijnloos did, but knitting the squares in stockinette stitch will look great too I think! Please post WIP's if you decide to start your own :nod

Lijnloos: I did actually get some crocheting done, I finished his arm and am working on the blue right now. I will post a picture tomorrow :D

Lijnloos> I was wondering how it would look with colors, I've only done black and orange granny squares. Cool idea of a 1up though xD I loled but you did it so perfectly. My brother would love you xD

Ellentje> Your welcome, and I was wondering who started such a inspirational piece. That Chocobo is from the game boy one ain't it? XD aww... If only I still had that 6 foot painting of a chocobo I'd ask for the pattern of that cutie.

Double crochet? wow that really is a big blanket O_O;. But double crochet is sooooo warm too. I sure will. If I try a yoshie related to your creation I will give credit.. Mine may be Purple or pink though, with blue shoes lol. They where my favorite levels in yoshies island.
And that is a TON of yarn. Over here the polyester yarn is $2.30 a skein. But that acrylic can get expensive. $7-12 bucks Depending on the store. However with how nice the results are. I can't blame you for using it, Yoshi looks like he came right off the game!

* Will now sit on the edge of my seat and stalk you * hahah.

Here's another update.

As you can see Yoshi's left arm is now done and I am working my way through the blue. I want to do his feet last to keep me motivated.
At it's lowest point it just needs 4 more pixels to reach the bottom.. I'm getting so close to finishing! I'm really looking forward to getting under this on a cold winter night with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate :D

Aww he looks so cool!

And that is a lot of blue O_o;
I really like how clean and neat you stitched the squares together, Not a bulge to be seen =D.

And I bet! That's going to be a wonderful blanket to snuggle in, And considering the pen you have in the picture. It's a huge blanket too!

I'm almost done!
It's really frustrating because I'm in the middle of exams right now, so I have been at the point of only needing to do 6 more squares for several days now. I'm going to buy the fleece for the back tonight and hopefully I will be able to post a picture of the completely finished blanket somewhere this weekend :D
Eeeh I'm so excited :yahoo:

It's finished! :yahoo:
It turned out to be a lot of work to hand sew the fleece to the back, but I'm glad I did it because it made it look even better.

So, here it is:

The black all around it is the fleece from the back that I folded and stitched together again to make a nice border.
And this is me holding it so you can get an idea of how big it is.

It has been three months of hard work, but it was totally worth it!
I hope you guys like it.

Wow! Looks great. And it turned out much larger than I thought it would, good thing you put that last picture in for comparison :)
