UP from Crocheted Granny's WIP again

I'm gonna do it again... but this time with red instead of green, it's going to be the back side of this one and the total will be a cushion to sit on
So I'll be needing:
78 whites
50 reds
18 beiges
62 blacks + 64 more blacks to round it and make it "deep".

So far I have:
15 red and 7 whites...

I'll be starting blacks now, so I can join the rows along the way, which makes that part far less annoying!

Good luck with it sounds like it's going to be one great cushion

I'm not sure what I will fill it with, or better: I don't know what its called. I have it in my head what I want to use, and think I can get it at our local store ("bouwmarkt")... but I need to finish the squares first, so I'll see about filling later

Did a few squares yesterday on the train from work and a couple on my way to work today, so steady progress...

Wow, a cushion would look so cool! if it helps I learned a few years ago that Polyfill makes a longer lasting pillow. And it'll be ages before you have to open a seem and put more in =D
But I was wondering, what size hook do you use?

And yesh I'm stilling puttering along on the chocobo xD.

I use a E (3.5) size hook, and work with Schachenmaijer Nomotto Catania yarn. I just worked through my red stash (now 28 squares) and have started on a fresh skein of white (now 11 squares)... blacks (now 8 squares) are harder in the evenings... Can only work on it during the day.
So I'm making good progress if I can say so myself... not bad 47 squares after 1 week...

Waaah! I love how puffy that 1-UP looks! What sort of granny square pattern are you using here? I'm not a crocheter but I'm thinking of giving it a whirl for a pixel project, and would love to hear your advice.

I just made the pattern from scratch...

chain 4, join with slipstitch to form a ring
chain 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in the ring, ch1, 3 dc, ch1, 3dc, ch1, dc3, ch1 (total = 12), join with slipstitch in the chain to finish off (cut off, but leave a little tail)
Starting same color but new round:
chain 3 into one of the corners (simplest is the corner where you finished) and dc in the same corner, ch2, 2dc in same corner, dc in next stitch (twice), *2dc, ch2, 2dc* (*in corner), dc in next stitch (twice), *2dc, ch2, 2dc* (*in corner), dc in next stitch (twice), *2dc, ch2, 2dc* (*in corner), dc in next stitch (twice), join with slipstitch in chain and finish off...
