Phoenix Wright Pixelhobby mosaic I finished a few years ago

Post by Damaniel »

I've been sitting on this one for a while (since 2010), mostly because I haven't had a chance to frame it yet. Of course, framing it might be a bit expensive...

I did this project using the Pixelhobby plastic mosaic tiles that Hobbyware sells. It's too bad they're so expensive compared to Perlers, since they come in so many colors (more than 400) and the high pixel density (10 per inch) makes them perfect for this type of work.

The image itself is 400x400 pixels, for a total of 160,000 individual mosaic tiles, and a size of 40 inches by 40 inches. I spent 9 months working on it -- I had to do it in batches due to the cost of the components (about $800 in the end).

Here's an up close picture of one of the (80!) backing boards:

I was planning to do a second as well, but the cost of materials is just too high. I'll stick to cross stitch for now. :)

That's awesome, love it.

Shame Pixelhobby's so expensive though, I'd love to give it a try (as I have said around these boards several times!)
