Donkey Kong Beanie

So I recently got into knitting and took a couple of pics of my finished product with my cell phone(better quality pics to come later). Its a knit beanie in St st knitted in the round on US size 8 DPN's, the pattern was done in Duplicate stitch. I want to try again but with Intarsia, although I've never done it before. There is alway a first time for everything.

Very cool! How does the back look? Is it just brown?
I know some basic knitting and can go in the round but never tried making images. Is it difficult? Looking at this makes me think I have to try it sometime.

Yeah the back is just brown, I didn't want to make the beanie look too busy. Knitting in the round is relatively easy, its just dividing your stitches accross several double pointed needles.

Oh I meant I can already knit in the round. I just have never made an image, like your Donkey Kong, with several colours of yarn. It seems quite straightforward but I wouldn't know what to do with all the thread hanging in the back when you make big jumps. Do you just leave it hanging?

When doing Fair Isle knitting, you carry your colors along the backside of the piece, twisting every couple of stitches. This keeps everything neat on the inside of beanies, instead of a sloppy mess.

What Immortis did was duplicate stitch, which is a much faster way to produce a pattern. Rather than carry multiple colors around throughout the pattern, he essentially cross-stitched Donkey Kong's face onto the beanie.

Looks really good, especially if you've just started out knitting, keep it up!
