I tried my hand at making a pattern or two to try this out after seeing Sephiroth, but the dimensions always muck up the colors. If I add/subtract plates, the image may get blurred or the program will add unnecessary colors. I guess it's the restriction on the size of the boards, but Sephiroth seems to have come out great! I was wondering if anyone had any pointers for picking/making an image for this craft?
Honestly it is a lot of playing around. I think there is a good guide somewhere on the site to explain how to do the colors. It confused the heck out of me at first since it is essentially saying "How many times does the color have to appear in the plate for us to recognize it as a real color" so if you put a low number you are going to have a ton of colors. If you have a picture you are thinking of I can see if I can make something work for you =) I was so picky with Sephiroth since it is such a big project and I wanted him to be perfect XD his nose had me scratching my head for awhile since it looked like he had some sort of growth on his face until I figured out how to fix it. Go ahead and post what you thinking and I can play with it! I don't see why you'd be limited as to what pics you could do except a really dark picture is going to have a lot of black in it.
This is a really epic looking project. I have been wondering about this craft for awhile, and I am glad to see someone that is actually doing it that will post real life pictures, LOL. I may have to take a shot at this.

The most time consuming part of it is straightening up the pixels once you put them on the board so there are no gaps between them. I use a thin, dull blade I got from an army surplus store that happens to fit perfectly in the grooves so it became a permanent part of my craft collection I'm sorry to hear that your craft store is closing! I know there a at least two different websites for pixel hobby I have seen offhand for the US and Australia so maybe there is a site that will ship locally to you if you want to try it. I found this on the Australia website:
For international customers we have not charged GST or VAT. You may be charged this also as an extra cost to you upon receipt of your goods depending on the laws in your country. We do not pay this amount for you.
For International Customers you may wish to order these Pixelhobby Supplies from your local distributors as below.
Pixel Hobby USA - For USA, Canada and Mexico Residents - http://www.pixelhobby-usa.com
Pixel Hobby Head Office - For Residents in Europe - http://www.pixelhobby.com/retailers
Not sure if they ship or if it just lists stores that carry the supplies. Hope that helps!
wanted to try this until i checked the link and see that the closest store is in wales!!!
